Talk Blogging

I have a family website where I want to encourage members to blog and
download photos. Can someone recommend software that my users will
find easy, yet also delivers a visually pleasing package along with
being organized.

I currently use Wordpress and Gallery2, but people find it difficult to
load photos to Gallery2. Please note my web hoster is 1&1.

Sorry, I don't have any fist-hand knowledge using these products. Though, I have installed numerous WP plug-ins, and these don't seem too complicated. Happy New Year!
